Hi there! Just about the only wood I do know anything about is Tiger wood because it has stripes that resembles the tiger but can't see that with your photo. You can add 4 photos to each post and that always helps any one of us give you a better idea of what you have. As far as the style or period goes, I think this is from the Eastlake era, 1838 - 1906. Furniture from that era was supposed to be more simple in it's decoration. Yes, this is most definitely a piece from then and it's in fantastic condition!
If you could get another photo showing the seat back underneath that would be great then the id of the wood will be able to be seen. Welcome to CW!
Shaeurpassion, thank you! I have included 3 more pics! I'm clueless when it comes to wood so I can only go by what the dealer told me. It has some variations but I have no idea what it's made of. I'm definitely interested to know more. And yes, it's in wonderful condition. I just love the piece and it's detail.
Great...your photos are a bit dark but yes, that looks like tiger wood to me. And now that I see the back, it verifies the Eastlake Id...they weren't decorated (carved) on the backs. If you have any lemon oil furniture polish, this baby will drink it up! Just rub it in well and it's possible it will need it again or a few more times a few days apart until it keeps a bit of sheen. You don't want it to start cracking and it looks thirsty ;)
Thank you so much!! I'm excited to know where it comes from. I will get some lemon oil polish and give her a drink. I definitely don't want to damage her. Thank you again for helping me identify the great find!
