This is a little unusual, and I'm guessing that it's probably Kralik although I'm hoping someone can confirm or otherwise. It's a purple uncased frilled-rim glass piece with surface spatter and green pulls. There is an unpolished pontil to the base. I grabbed this piece as Purple glass with spatter is not something we see very often and the added flourish of the green pulls is also quite unusual. Possibly a variant of Kralik 'Lines and Spots.'

    Stands 10.5" (26.5cm)

Really nice, & different...I have not seen any purple spatter Tango glass. The spatter does look familiar - rather like that on the opalescent Kralik Harlequin frit/spatter pieces.

IronLace - yes Harlequin fit - it does look like that. I wouldn't be inclined to call it tango though as it is a translucent purple. Thanks for the comment!

What a lovely find, Phil. I too think it's Kralik....Lines and Spots. I think that due to the way the green lines come down, then go back up like a V. This way of forming the lines is seen on the more common versions of 'Lines and Spots'. Of course I'm not a Kralik expert!

How very interesting - Thank you - I think I'm gonna change my title on the basis of this Peggy!

My thoughts tend towards Kralik on this and Peggy's (which I own in duplicate!) but there is room for more than some doubt on both.
But I am, like you two, still learning!

Thanks Ian... I'm hoping that Craig will comment, will be interesting to see what he thinks.

I really like the purple and green here, and the happy spatter around the base. Very modern I think!

The amethyst ground on this is unusual.

The spatter on Lines and Spots is actually a single color, and the same as the lines. Lines and spots is also a décor which is cased in an outer layer of clear.

The V shape of the lines is actually logical if you think about it. Think about this piece being on a blowing pipe. After the gather has been rolled in shards of glass , it has glass from a colored gather "drizzled" on it. The end of a thin thread of glass is applied to the gather, and as it is slowly rotated, the drizzle which forms the line is continuously applied from the top to the bottom to the top to the bottom in a kind of zig-zag line. It is one long continuous application of a thread of glass being draw from a colored molten gather.

When the piece is eventually cut from the pipe, the very end of the piece closest to the pipe is cut off, removing the V's one would have seen at the top.

For what it is worth, this does not strike me as Kralik production, and my take on it would be that at this point it is unidentified..... but very interesting.

Thanks Craig.... As always I appreciate your input. I guess I can safely assume it to be Czech Bohemian, the base certainly shows good aged wear for that period.

      Thanks Penny....
Interestingly, I have some lingering suspicions about this piece, which Karen has politely and subtly pointed out and which has been mentioned too by others. If there appears a flock of these on Ebay and other places, it may be that it is not what it seems. I'll have to wait and see...
