this is only a part of what i have from my grandma....unfortunately many are missing jewels ( some of which I have) and/or their other pair. some are marked, most are not. some i have no idea why anyone would wear them.
some are obviously homemade, by who i don't know ...ALL of the earrings are clip on or screw on, she never wore anything else.
giovanni on the 2 golden roses, i don't remember the others at the moment, I'll try to get good pictures of the backs. most are not signed that i can see
You will really want to keep these until you find out more about them. You'll find names on them in places you would not have imagined...you have to look at every bit of surface to find some of them even where you thought you have looked before. During the day, take a few pieces outside and look at them in the shade to see what you find. Giovanni is a good name and by the looks of her having sets of brooches sparks my interest as to how she wore them. Some look as if she could have fastened them to her shoes or she could have done something sort of fancy with a scarf... If your eyesight is good you may not need a jewelers loupe but it might just help and takes a bit of getting used to. I don't go anywhere without mine ;)
thanx...i've been looking at these for over 10 years...lol...she was quite flamboyant so who knows how she wore them. i know i have seen napier on a couple, and a couple other names that escape me right now. i haven't found everything yet, we moved and i haven't gone through everything yet
What lovely things. Agree with share, go through these pieces carefully, look for hallmarks which will help you research the era and value, pieces that are missing stones can be repaired, the leftovers can be sold together in a lot if you don't want to keep them. Thanks for sharing your treasures! :)
