I think these are at least 50 years old. A friend gave them to me. It's hard to distinguish what kind of animal they are--bears? They came as a pair and the male figure was holding a pipe and a red or yellow wristband (there might have been numbers on it).

The female figure held a wooden spoon.

The faces are not cloth--they are a hard substance that is cracking from age. Their arms and legs are made of a felt-like fabric.

Both are wearing their original clothing.

If anyone has any information, I would be very thankful as I have always wanted to learn more about them.

    Thank you!

thanks for the input. i just found out that they are steiff hedge hogs from the early 1950s. it seems there was a hit tv show in germany featuring this hedge hog family -- the husband was mecki and the wife micki.

so excited i finally know what they are!

Yes, you are right, Mecki & Micki. So cute I had one given to me years ago by a friend from Germany.
