(1 item)
I've always wanted a domed trunk, and my house is from 1921, so it fits the era. $60 online. But has been in a barn for probably 40 years.
No markings on the springs clasp, only words I can find is on the insert.
One ribbon for lifting on each side, on left "Morse and Rogers" on the right (coming out of the hat box) "Stand & Shoe & Leas & Co" (think Lea, the A is hard to read lettering).
4 tiny wheels at the bottom.
Oh, it's HUGE, appx 3' wide, 18" deep, a 21.5" to the top lip (so not incl any of the dome, which is around 7" at its highest point).
There is also 4 nails (2 on each side) right above clasp with thin stops of leather, but no indication of where the other end went, or what was for...
Inside has cracks, as does the insert (do I just recover with period cloth? And glue inside cracks back together?)
Best way to clean up before I begin removing rust and restoring it?
And finally, (come on TM!) any possible clue? Hoped hinges and clasp shots helpful...
Id have a house full of old trunks, wardrobes, and steamers if hubby and wallet and location allowed.
It's going to be under the big plate glass window in our turn of the Century style dinning/game room
TY!!
