I got this fan from a antique show last April 30th. I got this fan for $20.00 it was priced at $45.00 but the fan is missing the two speed mechanism. So that's how I got it for $20 00.
I took the fan completely apart and cleaned and lubed every thing. I rewired the fan from the motor to the fan plug.
I got a new, vintage looking twist cord for the Gilberts fan I paid $8.25 for the cord.
I also put a green felt on the base.
The end metal outlet plug is original.
I cleaned every part of this fan.
I did not paint this fan at all.
I just made the fan safe to run.
This fan blows a ton of wind.
This fan is completely fixed. And gone through.
It took six hours of work to get the fan looking and running nicely.
This fan is made by Gilbert. This fan is 8 inches tall with six inch blades.
This fan has motor brushes. This is popular for a fans of the 1920's.
This fan has a pot metal motor housing.
My Gilbert fan is in great shape for a 1920's fan.
I paid a total of $28.55 for this fan.
I'm very happy with it.
I'll be doing the interior and exterior of a Cub beginning next week. Gonna take a lot longer, though. LOL.
Reminds me of buying a fan in SXM. Floor fans had been $22 for ages & I was told the price for them had gone up. I went into a hardware & said to a sales lady, "How much are your $22 fans ?" Reply, "Ours are $25". LOL !
Great little fan. I take it that is a Polar Cub. Not sure about the 2 speed mechanism. Most of these were one speed with no on/off switch. Probably late 1920s if doesn't have brass blades.
