The body of this vase has a circular inner layer which is dark green under UV light. Then there is a hexagonal layer with white opalescent lines on the corners of the hexagon. I'm not sure of the colour of the hexagonal layer, though I suspect pink! The vase stands on five thorny feet.
The feet however I can identify as I have three pieces in known Welz décors with identical thorny feet. So far the feet have always come in fives and in three colours, clear, green and now pink. In all cases each foot has two thorns which always point upwards.
Image three shows the foot in detail.
Image four shows other examples of these feet. I find the nightlight shape most interesting. Yes it has thorny feet but the hanging rigaree higher up is also made of thorny 'feet'!
Height 21 cm./8.25 inches
I can almost see the craftsman tweaking the glass to make those thorns. Glorious group of critters there!
Hi Peggy, I Love this vase! It's very similar to a favourite of mine, here.. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/162569-welz-stem-thorn-vase I've seen a variation with white thorns somewhere too. I thought the green does contain uranium, though it's not obvious. Simply gorgeous, craftsmen at their best :)
Hi Karen, you'd probably see the craftsmen even more clearly if you could see the small round indentations at the end of each foot. I take them to be traces of the craftsmen's work. Mass production by hand......a way of life totally gone!
Hi Fran, Thanks for adding the link to yours. It's good to see the two on one page and to get the feel of how Welz would add different rigaree to produce variations. I too remember the one with white thorns.....with envy!
Ian also has a variation, though his is a different shape.
See another variation below.

Peggy, I would know that color of peachy-pink on the feet anywhere! ;) It is a color I so much associate with Welz. The striped body (slightly opalescent?) on your vase is quite different - I really like it!
This is a favourite of mine, Michelle, unusually svelte compared with its neighbours!
Thank you, Ken, I really appreciate your compliment. Too many really, but I do enjoy the hunt.
