    katherines…
    (247 items)

Went to the swap yesterday and bought some silver bits from a dealer who always gives me great prices on really good stuff. Yesterday when he recognized me, everything I picked up off his table, he was quick to offer a figure so cheap I couldn't turn him down. He said he wanted to get rid of what he had because he had a new batch coming in two weeks. Brooch? 3 bucks. Necklace? 5 bucks. This ring? Take it for a dollar, and that other one too. The only thing with his stuff is it's always uncleaned and unpolished. I haven't cleaned the pieces yet, just took some quick photos to post here. The brooch is an antique, the two rings are vintage Mexican silver, and the necklace, well ... depends on if that's a glass marble or one of those elusive Pools of Light. Not bad for ten dollah. Thanks for looking.

EDIT TO ADD: Looking closely at the brooch, I found marks on the pin, a shooting star in a rectangle on one side, the number 27 stamped on the other side. Does anyone know what they mean? Thank you.

SOLVED: Hallmark is Spanish .750 silver. Thank you, Hel1, and Bonnie!

Thanks for the love, nutsabotas6, vetraio50, and brunswick. :)

Thanks, Ken, yes, the necklace was unusual and caught my eye. If that turns out to be a Pool of Light orb then I'd say ten bucks very well spent! :)

      Geez Louise! Well done!!
I love the brooch and you must take some more photos of it - please.....
Surely the rings are worth more as scrap than you paid, and they are so wearable too!
Sorry to be such a dope; I have not heard of Orbs of Light before. I looked it up, and apart from nasty floating lights for pools all I saw (it was a quick search) was Victorian rock crystals. Is that the style?

Is the mark on the brooch the same as on the silver bangle of Efesgirl?

Thanks for the love, fortapache, racer4four, Hel1, Kjane79, bijoucaillouvintage, JImam, and TassieDevil. :)

Thanks, Karen, I will post the separately for your viewing pleasure. :) Yes, I think the rings are worth a little something, the first has an infinity symbol in silver embedded in some sort of crushed gem pieces, the second has cartouches on all four sides.

Pools of Light are rock crystal orbs popular in late Victorian through Art Deco periods, depleted now. There are two or three threads about them here on CW, and this blog thread posted by Gillian on another thread:

Hel1, missed your comment earlier, yes, I knew I'd seen that hallmark posted on one of Bonnie's pieces but couldn't remember which. Thank you! :)
