Kurata Glass have used foil on their glass for a long time, and this particular style is from the 1990s. These two vases are both from that period and have both been made in the same way.
I have often stated that Kurata artists have great skills, and these vases show that. The vases are beautifully shaped and the variation of foils on the ground are subtly and cleverly placed. Like all Kurata glass they are beautifully finished, and to me flawless.
The round vase is a quite common shape for Kurata, and it is smaller at 18cm.
The taller vase with it's fluted rim is a shape I have not seen from Kurata before. It measures 24cm.
Lovely vase!!
Thanks Sean, lovely to hear from you!
Both are beaut......but I love the green and the red in the round vase.
Thanks Ken. They sparkle beautifully.
Well spotted Peggy! The underlying colours are very subtle. I have another vase from this era with much more obvious colour in it. Maybe the artist felt tired on this one and did little spatter!
You know what I love about your vases, Karen? Is that I can look and look and look at them. They engage me, in other words, thoughts and beyond thoughts. So much there there.
Love them both. They remind me of Murano Oball.
