This brooch is really an oddity!
The glass eye is staring at you...
The unmarked silver mount has a lovely patina and the little silver balls are very evocative of A&C pieces.
C clasp, early round hinge, not the modern ones.
3.5cm long, 2cm high.
Never seen anything like that in this era!
Perhaps a kind of later lover's eye jewelry or made for a true quirky lady!!!
Post it as unsolved mystery to get any identification or idea you may have :-)
I'm at a loss for words. Eye Catching lol
Ha ha Caperkid ! Thanks for your appropriate pun!
I caught an eye, struggled for it against 9 bidders and 29 bids :-))
Wow Pascale I love it!!! How amazing...it is Lover's eye looking isn't it! The setting is great too....a lot of effort has gone into it........I really want one of these....haha what a talking point......fabulous!!

HEY! That is my exact eye color!! With hazel color around the black. My mom's eyes were that shade of the blue and my dad's were the hazel. I don't think it is that common of an eye. I really hope I find a pin like it.
What a fabulous piece, I love it!!

LOL, very punny thread, enjoyed reading it! :)) My guess for whatever it's worth is that this belonged to someone who sold eyeglasses and prosthetic eyes back in the day? The Victorian version of an advertisement teeshirt, so to speak. It's a fantastic piece, very unique and interesting! :)
Oh, Kath, I love the idea of the advertising :-)))
I collected too antique eyeglasses, lorgnette and optical pieces, so it fits in that collecting area too Ô..0
I was a school caretaker for 19 years and I had a Caretaking colleague who a glass eye, well he was drinker and his fav trick was to gross everybody out by placing his glass eye on the bar by his pint and when asked why. he told them its keeping an eye on his pint! He was often accused by jealous boyfriends of staring at their women, he wasn't really it was his fixed focus un moving eye!
Lol GeodeJem !
Keeping an eye on the pint... will try it with my glass of wine ;-)))
Just out of interest, I have been looking for years to find a piece of jewelry similar to my eye ring. Yours is the first and only other I have seen. I have posted it in 'Show and Tell' so you can see for yourself. :)
A Marine told me a very dirty joke about a glass eye, not repeating in public! :P
Been watching and waiting to see if the "eyes" have it looks like a winner
( eye think I know that one katherine ;o )
Well don't repeat it, PP! :P
Fred, I just posted the link to this thread on your thread, lol, we must have crossed posts. :))

Just saw the link to this on the eye ring post. I absolutely love it, I'll have to keep an eye out for another one....
At Loved To Death in San Francisco, you used to be able to get human glass eye jewelry. Now it looks like thy just have taxidermy animal eyes. But you can still get human teeth jewelry! I LOVE this place!

PP, I'd love to know the dirty joke... But Kath disapprove... ;-)
The eye ring is fabulous!
Fred thank you for your comment and posting your ring! You're a w-eye-se man :-D

Thanks Gary!
Djama (pun for pajama) arrived on our table outside during sunday lunch, she is very familiar and still a baby who can fly. Surely saved by someone else and escaped.
But... half an hour ago, the twins caught her just after her bath!
She is alive, but lost most part of the tail... I'm not sure if she still can fly... will see when she will calm down and dry, I put her on a branch and check regularly :-/
Fingers crossed!
They are really well fed... but hunting instincts are huge!
The little fellow managed to fly away during following hour :-)
I don't think she will come back in the area...
So... she just came back, asking for meal :-D
Valentino! I knew you'd like her (or him...) :-))
Sure! See the first day how friendly she is:

That is so cute pascale........you do seem to attract birds to your house! Peejay would have seen it as prey too!
Awww, thank you Judy! I can't imagine Peejay with bad intentions... ;-)

Hi Scott! Glad you took a break from your work to spend some time on CW :-))
Thank you for your visit, kind comment and love!
Awesome Piece!
Buckethead! Thank you, even if I find it more quirky than awesome ;-)))
Holy smokes, this brings back childhood memories......
My maternal grandmother had cancer, and lost her eye and cheekbone. She was given a prosthetic eye that freaked me out more than seeing her without it. She wore it for a few years, but it would fall out at the most inopportune moments. The last time I saw her wearing it, we were visiting her and my step grandfather in Lancaster PA. We were at a restaurant and yep, it happened. The waiter came by to refill coffee mugs and stopped. He was looking at my grandmothers salad bowl, or what was in it rather.....
Tlynnie, what a funny story, I'm very glad my eye brought back such childhood precious memory :-D
Thank you!
46 000 000 thanks to all of you, 46 eye lovers!
Eye would appreciate having that eye in my brooch collection.
Eye understand you well, Raven! ;-)
Thank you!
