I've been nervous all week waiting for this to arrive - in one piece!
Another buy from our Gallic friends across the Channel and my first Harrach Aesthetic period vase. It is in exceptional condition with only minor wear to the rim gilding. A rich amethyst glass with 3 lizard or salamander legs in yellow/amber glass with enameled pale blue and white dots. Whimsical beetle and worm, oak leaves, acorns and other foliage, sorry that's as far as my botanical knowledge stretches.

I didn't ID this all by myself although I thought it either Moser or Harrach. Alisa at the gildedcurio identified it positively as Harrach. So.... the collection grows - I now have more than 3 Harrach pieces, so that must make me a collector of Harrach I guess...??
    A whopping 15" tall (38cm)

Thanks Malkey, I can't begin to tell you how difficult it was to do the deal on this one, but it was certainly worth the trouble.

Oh! my that is so very beautiful and what an impressive size..looove! the colour...sooo!! envy you on this one, have always wanted one with salamanders...very well done you!

Thanks Penny - Salamanders - yes me too, always admired the ones with them on the sides of vases, but to have three put to purpose is a bonus. And though they look delicate they are actually very substantial, solid pieces in their own right.

I think that is a Stag beetle! How has that survived all these years?? I'm amazed the lizards are in one piece. Do you have any idea what year it is from?
    21. philmac51 philmac51, 8 years ago
Hi Celiene, I'm not sure exactly - probably sometime between 1870-1880, maybe earlier?

Phil, when you go in, you go in deep!! What a terrific piece of Harrach! The salamander legs are amazing! (I love salamanders...) and the oak foliage with them is superbly done. And this one has so little, if any wear, too. What a terrific piece all around. (Do you have the Harrach book yet?) Yes, I'd say you are a Harrach collector now. :)

Hi Michelle - I was extremely lucky with this one, listed on Ebay with a very poor, none descriptive title and just 2 pics. I enquired about the condition - I didn't place a bid, and two days later, and still no bids, the seller sent me a message and asked if I was still interested and did I want to buy it!! I was so surprised even more surprised when he said he would sell at the starting price, which was ridiculous, but hey, that was what he wanted. However it took over a week to pay for it as the seller actually did not know how to change the selling price to a fixed buy it now. The whole process was a long complicated and convoluted affair, which I wont go into here.... needless to say it was worth the trouble!
...and no, I need to get that book soon!!!
