So. As some of you may recall, I have mentioned that I purchased a desk to flip it. Yea right! Well, here it is. First of all, I did the first photo in Sepia so you can see it, otherwise, it came out too dark from the glaring sun.

Yes folks, this is my most brilliant idea ever...no, it just takes the cake! haha When I got it home I thought, how gorgeous this desk is...maybe I'll keep it for awhile then sell it. After you read this you will know, this desk isn't going anywhere for a very long time! Why? Because I will have to remove the whole window just to get it back out! That's the only way I was able to get it in but I have to tell you, I love this desk!

If you click on this link, you will be able to see the front of it.

    http://www.stacyfurniture.com/hooker-furniture-belle-grove-60-desk/060-10-460-5/iteminformation.aspx

They don't even have the price listed there! This sucker weighs just under 300 pounds. And that one is without the beveled glass top mine has.

My friend and I are the only two that got it in here... talk about determination! I told him, there is no way and without hesitation, he was in motion! I couldn't stop him and told him that if in the process he feels it's going to fall to just let it go! Either one of us getting hurt was not worth the $150.00 I paid for it.

Materials: Hardwood Solids; Cherry Satinwood, Walnut & Ash Burl Veneers on top make the design. It reminds me of the designs as a kid we created with the 'Spirograph'.

Size; 60" wide x 30" tall x 30" depth. All the drawers are just under 30" depth also. (The TV/Monitor has a 31" screen).

The two file drawers (look like 2 drawers, they are on both sides) have separate brass locks along with brass drawer pulls, latches and hinges. The middle drawer slides out and with a click of the latch, it opens and pulls out so you can put a laptop or keyboard there. The drawers are all dove tail (machined). The front, if you have not seen the link, has a double book shelf that I will never see again!!! haha.

I have no idea what I did with all my 'stuff' before this desk! Here's the real kicker!!! I never bring anything in right away, I prefer to leave any critters that may come with things out in nature, so far my method has not failed me on that, so while out there, I rubbed it down with lemon oil and left it for a week. Time to bring it in, did so, as I was replacing the drawers, the top right made a funny noise. Pulled the drawer back out and there was something stuck to the top of the inside. What was it??? Just the instructions on how to remove the whole top!!! O. M. G. REALLY?!???!!! (I will still have to take it out of the window one day but it will be a whole lot lighter)!

I forgot to mention, when we decided the window would have to be removed and he told me it's not a problem, I went inside for a minute and came back out to see the window already removed, most of it anyway. Oh yea, it was the wrong window! I just didn't have the heart to tell him it was supposed to go in the other room!!!

So there you have it, now when I mention it, you will understand ;)

    Hope you enjoy the post!

      Your link isn't 'live'.

Gillian's link provides some great pics with more detail especially with the close up feature for the veneers also done on the front and sides. Too gorgeous a piece to resell, that was a good decision you made, so 280 lbs and a 20 lb glass top that someone must have had specially cut for the top. Hardwood Solids with Cherry, Satinwood, Walnut and Ash Burl Veneers, how exquisite this must be, very envious !!~

Thank you Phil, this desk belongs in your home, not mine! I even had to rearrange the furniture. This room is not really large enough, it does deserve to be in a large home library/study or office. It really is nice tho. I have been contemplating the idea of opening the adjacent room...we'll see. Thanks for the love and comment...always appreciated!

Gillian-I wonder what happened with my link? I'm glad you figured it out, thanks again.

Great desk, love the custom cut glass, Must have cost a lot new as they are afraid to show the prices

That is too funny that you are contemplating opening a wall because the room is too small for the desk. That just shows you the strange priority set we have as aficionados of fine things.

I have a desk from an Old Cobbler, shoe retail seller and its nothing has grand as yours.

When I was younger my mother had to fitted shoes for me and the shoes would cost, so I would sit at his desk, and Mum and hom would chat. I swear to god he fancied her but nothing doing for him. So my feet were measured (inspected before we left for town!) and so 30plus years later his shop contents were sold he moved into the shoe shop in the sky and the Great Cobbler! I arrived just in time to buy it but with no transport I had to handcart on a trolley 2 miles home mostly uphill! Then up to my spare room where it sits. There is nothing amazing about it but its mine!

Your new pic looks great - took out some additional wires, Victoria Day here in Canada, nice to have a holiday !
    16. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 8 years ago
Wow!!! What a difference! Can you move that desk for me from one room to the other? hahaha!!! Wouldn't that be nice, and I imagine, not too far fetched from now! Thank you Phil. You've done a great job bringing color to it where I could not get that here. I also know how long it takes to remove things from the photos too. You da man! Happy Holiday to you!

PoliticalPinbacks, thank you for the love and comment. Yes, the glass is amazing. I wish it were easy to take off and clean under it. There are little clear tabs that leave just enough room for dust! OMG now my ocd wants to kick in! lol!
    18. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 8 years ago
clmason456, right!? The only other way is for Phil to whip some photo magic on it and move it for me!!! ;) Thank you!

surfdub66, you got me! One pane actually did crack. Oh well, lucky for me I have a long time friend in the glass biz! ;) Thanks for the love and comment!

GeodeJem, awe, that's a great story! Sounds like Gepetto to me. Isn't that what he was, a shoe cobbler? How cool that you made it up the hill and have it now. That ol' guy is probably still tryin' his best at your mom! haha Thank you.

betweenthelens, I'm so glad you love the story as well as the desk! I always feel ya just gotta laugh at yourself sometimes...with me it does seem to happen more often than I prefer but better happy than sad! Thanks for stopping by.

Wow Susie, what a steal! There's no way in the world you gonna get another desk like this for $150, so if you really need one, keep it, and if you don't, cha-ching lol

      Shareurpassion,
Any way you kept those instructions? I'm trying to pick up one of these on Saturday!
    26. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 2 years ago
Wow, I just got notification of a comment on this post! And yes, I do still have it. BUT last year I moved and I do still have the instructions on removing the top which gave the desk almost a 1" clearance. The problem was the movers broke the glass top. I have a friend in the glass biz and they said they could get me a replacement for 700. I don't think so. I just have to be careful not to put hot or icy drinks directly and use a pad to write on.

REITodd, good luck on your new desk. The drawers are heavy but very convenient!
    27. REITodd, 2 years ago
Oh no! Don't suppose the moving company offered to fix it for you? Can you post pictures of the instructions sometime tomorrow? Or send to my email? I've driving 3.5 hours to pick mine up and want to make sure I bring the right tools. todd@rtepropertiesllc.com
