This is a lighted Barber Pole thats been in the family for 40 plus years.
I don't know much about it except made out of brass and glass sides, very cool when lite. This is a Paidar Barbers Pole made in the 1920's.

It was made by Paidar in the late 20's. It looks awfully nice, maybe too nice, but the catalog I have it in shows it exactly as you have it. Only missing one small piece at the top.

That's what I meant when I said it looks too good as I thought the same thing, but comparing it to what is in the catalog it looks awefully correct to me. The color is what's really throwing me off.

      Hi Metalman
I just saw your barber pole light. I like it. Never seen a stained glass wall light like that. I bet it looks awesome when it's lit.
I just remembered that I have seen a barber pole wall light although it isn't stained glass. I have one that was made by Koch. I think it is a Koch #47. I can't post a picture on here so I'll post it on my page.

Thanks MickeyH, it looks very cool lite up. Mike found the light in a Paidar catalog. I have been looking for a long time and he gave me the info in one day!
Now just trying to put a value on it, however will not be selling anytime soon too cool.

I feel the same way about my babies Metalman. I posted a couple pics on my page a few minutes ago.
I have a very limited library when it comes to barber poles. That is a goal I'm working on. I've garnered a lot of knowledge concerning barber poles over the years but I need more written information.
If you don't mind I'll try to get a picture of your Paidar for myself. Did it have a model number?
    19. metalman metalman, 13 years ago
Thanks alot mickeyh , I cant see the model # very well in the picture mike sent but looks like maybe # 182

Hey MickeyH, had to show you a pic of the pole lite up. I love it.
    22. Mike, 13 years ago
I can't find the catalog right now. I have a few items here at my house and all the rest in storage. That catalog is a bit bigger than your standard catalog so maybe it's in a box with my poles. I took a lot of pictures of my catalogs as it's much easier looking in my computer than flipping through the books.
Value? As you know by now sometimes they go high and sometimes they don't. I would guess yours would probably fetch $600 in today's market, but could only go higher from there. Although rarer than a standard barber pole, most people are after the larger revolving poles.
As far as obtaining catalogs, they are antiques that are 80-90 years old and usually go for at least $100, but as much as $450, that is when someone decides to sell, which isn't often.
    23. metalman metalman, 13 years ago
Thanks Mike you have helped alot! The value at $600 is about the same neighborhood as I put it at.
Thank you have a great weekend.
