Interesting sign from right around 1960. This type was made to fit over existing signs as a cost efficient update. I've not seen this version before, very nice. I'll post the one I have so you can see what I mean.

I have two of these and it makes sense now after Daddy_Nobucks coments on the sign being a cover. They also mentioned it was made sometime in the 60's. The code at the bottom of the sign is "R-5-54". Does this mean anything and can someone give me an approximate value? The condition of both signs is very similar to the one pictured by Jessica, and I have two of the end caps which originally were attached to the signs ends. Largely it is the white beveled edges and the end caps with scraches and bends. The red paint and 95% of the field white is intact. Tin construction and no rust. Thanks in advance for any help!
