The Walking Stick is creepier, please open so you can see all 4 photos. This belongs to my friend and it's about 6' tall! Sorry, I can''t remember the exact tribe that made this and I'm sure it's ceremonial as well. The twisted area is in the middle with turquoise wrapped around. Very creepy cool!
Here's something I have that gives me the hee-bee-geebies! But I just had to buy it! I felt it was very special to someone, the whole tribe really. Which tribe I do not know as many different tribes use them in ceremonial dances. Some are used by the healers, I believe.
What it is. It's a rattle made from a tortoise shell (the openings are cover with deer skin) attached to a hoof, really a large part of a deer's leg. Attached to that is coyote fur, I know this because I get coyotes in my back yard trying to eat my pit bull for dinner, they just didn't know mama bear comes with this territory here! Yet they are still very relentless and very, very smart. Always 2 at a time. I have been within inches of them, watching them try to figure out how to get my dog ( I've watched just on the other side of the glass sliding door-trust and believe, I am shaking as I write this, it's frightening and I've ran out there like a mad woman to run them off after a few minutes. They don't even know I'm there till I stand up) Sorry for the rant but they make me a bit angry over my dog.
Also there are feathers, of course. A tooth that probably comes from the coyote and something else I can't remember right now. It's wrapped up and in the garage. I should put it on the fence!!!
Anyway during the ceremony, a warrior will tie it to his knee from a long piece of leather and dance with it as it rattles. The sound is awesome, like the ones they make that are called "waterfalls".
So there is my creepy post for the year...I forgot, I also bought a Kachina Doll that is also wrapped up and listed too! haha
Don't be scared, they're over here ;)
Thanks in advance!
i prefer the kind of collectibles they show on the roadshow, they really interest me !
Right! And although I do love the Native American culture, these would not particularly be something I collect either. I have to say, they're different!
Forgot to say thank you Phil...I only responded ;) Oh and I just can't seem to get that photo of the desk up but you really did a fantastic job. Thank you for that too. I should get the ram right now matter of fact. Hopefully my pc will run better!
Hope you get it working, otherwise I could post if you really want it up, such a fantastic desk - so happy you got it in your home, I can't imagine the rrouble to fit it in, but it must be fantastic to work from it, love to you !
