Hopefully CW will keep this up! The point being there is a solution for bad, too dark tintypes to preserve the image while still there!
I bought some photos online from a person I had bought another photo from which was alright. He personally contacted me and said he had others, quoted a price, I paid and got very dark tins. So dark, under any light. my camera used a flash, ruining the image
    .
I took the photo outside in the bright AZ. sun and was able to pick up what you see
IN PHOTO # 2- VERY DARK---Photo # 1 IS "THE FIX" THE EDIT
I have a book of fix-it tricks for photos in distress. In talking about tintypes that are in this condition, the author suggested this. By using a site that lets you EDIT your photo, and you use function for lighten/brighten--get a photo that you can see. Print that out. (You could even enlarge one print for better viewing of a problem photo)Using a backing of Acid Free paper cut to size of tin, affix to the very top with tape only on the paper, and then over to the back of tin (just a mere little bit) and keep it "forever" visible with the paper print seen only--lift to view orig bad tintype. The tin that is too dark, may not get any worse with being protected from light.. Light is what darkens our tins. .And you have easily and cheaply preserved your photo. Acid-Free Paper can be bought on line .
optional "remedy" so all is not lost by using the method described. SOOOO QUICKLY
PHOTO #2 HOW IT LOOKED BEFORE--a throw away??
PHOTO #1 HOW IT LOOKED AFTER Edited at a site for doing that and process to keep a photo print of the good photocopy photo over the orig tin using Acid Free paper No further light damage to the poor tintype.

I got it (the orig tintype in very dark condition,,fron a private seller on my email site. I bought one a bit earlier , and it was VG condition--he asked if I wanted another, to pay and he's going to send it without additional postage. Private sale thru my email, with a photo sent he edited so there was a visible image I thought I was getting!! So they ended up being sent a day apart anyway. This one was so bad, I wanted a sign on my back "Kick Me"! He had no info with either photo. But I won't fall for that type of sale again With Kyra's edit it looks GREAT--Mother and daughter??They are both very beautiful. I have never seen this photo before. Maybe performers??

No one noticed the ghosts? I'm trying to bring out more detail of the 3 or 4 in the background, 2 little girls (upper right) and one older man (upper center)+ maybe? one in the light.
Any one else see the or do "I see dead people" lol

I see a man with black coal eyes and a mustache and a hood!!
    9. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
The 2 girls in the upper right seem to be in color, How about the mouth in the vase?
or maybe a face with a blindfold (and ghost over the right eye lol)
      6 or 7 total I think
If you hold ctrl and tap + you can zoom in, ctrl - to resize back down
I downloaded a few photo programs and about have them clear

Have you seen "GHOST BROTHERS"? Two black men that are really great investigators and very believable! They have all the gadgets and electronics that Ghost Adventures crew have and are skilled at using them. They only come on cable about once a month--Catch it if you can. A plus is they also have a sense of humor, so the show should make it.
    15. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
I did catch that once well part of it anyhow, They are funny.
The more I look at this "ghost" image the more I think that it may have been made during "the spiritual movement" likely someone selling these ladies a/this image with there dearly departed that magically showed up, maybe less the black eyed man as he is right out there so maybe someone drew that one in 80 years ago? I pointed most of them out but NOT all, The one that is more clear and larger I didn't, You can see him in any of the copies but it's one of those that is hard to see until you see it then it sticks out, Also looks like a cherub on the pillar holding up a shelf that can be seen best on the #1 image that I posted.

Funny, my grandson 21, just was looking at your images with me--amazed, when the thought came to me that maybe they were "mediums"--Efisgirl said to me that she thinks she has seen this photo before someplace---maybe it WAS sold during the spiritualist movement, like you thought. The more we think about it, the more we seem to discover. I see now you did see my "pirate ghost" with the coal black eyes --your #2, I believe. He was the fist I saw, and saw him very plainly--but now with your program and the numbered pointers--I can see many more. I still can only use my right eye, and that is a handicap sometimes when I am hunting for flaws and stuff. You have done a terrific job, posting the picture and I thank you!!

      "Very compelling"--as Zak would say!

Direct Lookers to your site where you have done all the detection work so they can see the ghosts plainly. If you can. I would hate that they might miss it,because it is wonderful
