    Good afternoon everyone,
It seems that through all the years I have been searching for collectibles watches and clocks have crossed my path many times. Usually the time pieces need cleaning or some other attention. This is not always the case though and every once in awhile a little gem is found.
The ladies watch in this post is one such gem. When I first picked it up at a garage sale I didn't know much about the Bucherer history. It was plain looking, automatic, and I believe it still has the original leather strap. I'm guessing it is from the 1960's or possibly late 1950's. Besides being 21 jewels and adjusted to 3 different positions, without any cleaning it runs good keeping pretty good time. The crystal shows some wear while the face doesn't show signs of rust.

    HISTORY: Wiki
Carl F. Bucherer is a Swiss haute horlogerie company based in Lucerne, Switzerland, which manufactures luxury men's and women's mechanical watches. Since its founding in 1888, the company has been wholly owned by the Bucherer family, making Carl F. Bucherer one of the oldest luxury Swiss watchmakers continuously held by the founding family. The company is run by the third generation, with Jörg G. Bucherer serving as chairman of the board.

In 1888, Carl Friedrich Bucherer established his first boutique selling watches and jewelry in Lucerne, Switzerland. In 1919, Carl Friedrich Bucherer launched his first ladies’ watch collection in the Art Deco style. He is one of the first watchmakers to adopt the watch strap, which at the time was still a revolutionary concept. By 1948, the company was focusing on sporty chronographs that prominently displayed the current date.
I would like to thank Efesgirl for passing on a great piece of information of taking better focused close ups by using a loop. It takes some practice ( which I am still working on!! ) the end result is worth the extra effort.

I never heard of the watch maker before. I agree that finding a working watch is excellent. Sometimes you find a semi working watch which attention. I have an Omnia ladies pendant watch, red background on numerals Swiss made 1960s, watch which works for an hour and needs a rest! a Swissam ladies pendant watch very pretty but non working, and a Military WWII Services pocket watch that's tired. Nobody repaires them near me.

Me neither GoedeJem until I checked the internet for info. I have a few tired and part time working watches also. It's not so easy to find a good watch repairman around with all the quartz etc. watches on the market. I like the older watches and if I want any work done on them here in Mexico I have to take photos of the insides just to make sure I get the same working watch back!!!
