A large and fine Ernest-Baptiste Leveillé / Rousseau vase. Typical light smoked glass with oxide inclusions of brick red, purple and white and finely decorated in a Japonesque style typical of this period.
Stands 6.5" (16.5cm) tall and 7" (18cm) wide
love the shape & the gilding is superb a most elegant piece of French art glass Phil
Again... Thanks for the comment - I just keep stumbling upon this stuff lately.
Great to find you showcasing more lovely French glass, Phil. Not sure I quite believe the 'stumbling' part! :)
Your quite right, but I'm not purposefully looking for it, I just come across it looking for Harrach pieces for example, and if the price is right, normally when the seller doesn't know what he's got, I'll grab 'em ; )
And long may it continue!
A CLASSIC !!!
Very nice!....:-)
Wish I would stumble!!! A beaut!! :)
I love Leveille's work Phil, and yours is a beauty! Every so often a piece of his comes up, and you were fortune enough to find one.
Thanks Rick ... love your pieces too...
Thanks Phil, I love his glass :)
