My honey was finishing a job outside of a small town in Oregon, and finally heading home. They stopped to check the load, when right outside the driver's side door on the shoulder of the interstate he loolked down and saw this ring. Not realizing what it was, he just tucked it in the top of the toolbox and forgot about it for about a year.
Then a year later, he brought it in to me, told me all about how, where, and why then suggested I look it up.
I do know that the seed pearls are real, the metal is not magnetic. It's a very solid piece, except for the few pearls that are gone.

The cameo itself is what in the cameo world is called 'hardstone', generally any of the forms of chalcedony used for engraved gems, in this case, banded agate. While ladies like this are styled in the manner of nobility of an earlier time, they do not seem to represent anyone in particular. The Idar-Oberstein region of Germany is the main source of the stone work.
The setting is probably gold, ranging from 9 - 14K. These are often rose gold.
Everybody should find one of these in their toolbox! :)

I see the ring has had a repair/resizing done, as the metal used for the repair looks to be a different color from the ring metal. I take it the only mark on the ring is that cross inside the band? Is there anything printed inside that cross?

The metal being non-magnetic only means that ferrous metals were not used in the ring mount. I recommend taking it to a jeweler for testing. We can only glean so much from photos.
