She is 20 inches long with porcelain head and hands. Her body is canvas with beans inside. Arms and legs move and has 501 claire marie on her neck. I can not find her anywhere and would like to see if anyone does. I received two of them from my grandma when she passed. She has had them as long is I can remember and would like to know a little more about them.
i believe her to be a rare doll. this is because they are shipped around all sorts of place which means there is a certain quantity of her making her rare
Hi!
I know this was 3 years ago, but I wanted to chime in. I am the granddaughter of the woman who made these dolls and hope to be of some use. Every doll that my grandmother (Claire) made was numbered that I know of, partially because she made her dolls by hand out of her home workshop. As such, they are rare (although I am unsure of how far-reaching they are, since the majority of production was when I was young). Unfortunately, she passed last year, but she maintained a room of one of each of her dolls until she passed. If I had to date her, I would say probably around the 90s - but I can't be too sure.
I hope this is useful!
I have a Marie Claire indian doll also that my husband bought for me in a shop near Colorado Springs back in 1992-93. It is numbered 21 & his name is Little Talk, I think. He has a broken index finger on his left hand & I have tried for years to find the doll maker who made him. Thank you so much for your comment, Midnight. Would you know of a way I could have his hand replaced?
