This is a Hubley P-39 Pursuit Plane, the real thing was the Bell P-39 Airacobra.
Going by the markings on this plane I am thinking it is pre WWII. Not by much though as the first P-39 flew in 1938 and WWII (US direct involvement) started Dec 8th 1941.
This model has a 5 1/2" wingspan. It is a much smaller than other Hubley models. Also it has a die cast body with stamped metal wings.
It is not an exact replica, it is a bit stylized version
