I picked up this dresser for $100 yesterday. I couldn't pass up this deal. It's a beautiful, solid wooden piece with no markings. The only thing we could find was the number 265 on the back. I would love to know more about the history of this piece!
It appears to be very late depression up to early 1950's. Sometimes the best place to look are old vintage catalogs. Very nice piece.
Thank you! I love knowing a bit of background about each piece. I'll definitely have to look in vintage catalogs in the future (Google wasn't very helpful.) Thanks for the suggestion!
I think 1900 thru 1920 best suites this dresser. Though I've seen 1900 pieces that are still very popular into the 1950's.
You have a lovely dresser.
Thank you! I appreciate your input!
Looks to be 2nd quarter, 20th century.
Well cared for and reasonably priced!

What does it mean when a number is on an item and no name/maker? Curious. Auction? Numbered the amount they put through production? Answer would be greatly appreciated
"What does it mean when a number is on an item and no name/maker?"
Vague question-- assume you mean on furniture? Could be an original model # or any number of other things depending on the #, how it is applied and where it is located.
Suggest you post a picture and someone can provide insight into exactly what you are asking about.

Well, it says Chest 406 that's it on a small vintage bowfront chest of drawers. I'd snap a pick but I'm not home. Thank you for you're comment well appreciated
