At one of my favourite thrift stores did I today find this very odd Wedgwood Toadstool- or Mushroom-themed plate?
I'm guessing it circa 1930 more due to the thickness and intense colours (and which location it was made at) than the incused 30.
Does anyone know anything on this strange Wedgwood mushroom plate?
I was looking for ways to at least date the plate, and found out that the 30 actually does mean 1930. The T is the worker's mark. The 1 means January. So, at least I know a date for my 87-year-old plate.
But, that still leaves me wondering on the pattern?
It's so different from anything I've seen before by Wedgwood.
this is a beautiful plate - full of color and a great composition! stands on it's own even without the Wedgewood name! reminds me of the very old tobacco leaf patterns in Chinese export.
