What is It? Realiable Egg Scale Circa 1890

I pondered posting this as a what is it item but will just post it as usual.
I can't find any markings on this but one just like it was made by the Reliable Mfg. Co. of Los Angeles. According to that site it is circa 1890. Another site 1900and another 1920s. The first site was the most knowledgeable so that is the most reliable for this Reliable Egg Scale.
It came with a wooden base that is missing on this one. I think it would still work fine without the base. It is for measuring eggs from 19 oz to 22 oz. Seems a bit high to me as 16oz is a pound but that seems to fit with my other egg scales so I guess that is reliable.
