Here is another Mats Jonasson, a master craftsman of etchings that started his etching in 1959 and continues to "one up" even himself with amazing works.

This is of the wildlife series, my 5th. They just jump out at me! Now, if only one of his $20,000.00 ones would only jump out at me, I'd really be happy!!!

This is taken from Wildlife Wonders:
Mats Jonasson began as an apprentice engraver at The Glass Works in 1959. Over the next thirty years he worked with many of the most respected contemporary glass artists in Sweden. During this period, he developed his own wildlife related natural style that separates him from the rest. To use his own words, "Our forests have captured the hearts and minds of people since time immemorial." And so has Mats Jonasson captured us. Mats and his company, which has been evolving and growing since 1981 in Maleras Sweden, contributes 5% of his company's proceeds on the sale of 12 of his wildlife sculptures, to an international organization that regulates the trade of international endangered flora and fauna species.

Here is a link to see some of his other newest works.

And now you see the other reason this desk was a success on one hand and fail on the other! It is so reflective that it takes lots of work to shoot a photo on it. The first photo works, the second fails, you can see the reflection of the flower from the desk, the third is what I started with, Just a photo of a tree stump which does work for the owls but not so much anything else.

    Enjoy!

I remember seeing his works at my favouite jewellers, especially in the 90's. I had two gold nugget bracelets I wore at the time, and had to have them cleaned at least once a month. The remembrance would not be complete without mentioning the stunning showcase some of his work was shown in !!

Hey Nutsy! Thanks so much for the compliment. You see how it could easily fail tho, right? I'll post something else that would be a complete fail as far as photos go. You won't know what it is until I show it in the additional photos. Thanks for stopping in!

Excellent work Susie! It kind of reminds me of those 3-D cubes you can find in the mall. Is it 3-D?
