Here is a nice CDV of two Naval shipmates, one is seated in a chair with his arms crossed, and appears to be wearing a non-regulation scarf his hat has the rubberized material on it. The other shipmate is standing while wearing a raincoat with cloth covering buttons, one hand rest on other individuals shoulders while other hand is in pocket. His Navy rank is hard to tell, per naval regulations circa 1865 he could be one of three i.e. Midshipman, Boatswain, Gunner, or Master's Mate
