After Mom passed in March of this year, as the only daughter I inherited all of hers and her Mother's jewelry. There is a bit of fine jewelry, albeit, inexpensive fine jewelry but more fascinating is the large amount of costume jewelry. 90% of the costume jewelry belonged to my Grandmother.
She was born in early 1900's, so any amount of jewelry that would have been accumulated to my way of thinking/guessing from 30's to 70's (late). She died in early 80's. She seemed to LOVE brooches, Canadian Maple leaves, etc.
This is another brooch from her collection. As with the others, I have no clue on time period. Looks like it is missing a rhinestone too..:(
I actually have one of the jewelry boxes with 'loose' rhinestones, etc. - I may actually get into it to see if they line up with any of the items that are missing rhinestones although I don't have the first idea of how to properly 'fix' them.
Added pic of the back of the brooch. Thank you!
Thank you nutsabotas6,
I laughed as soon as I saw you clarify 'rhodium plated' because my mind blanked and all I could think of was "chrome". I truly appreciate the input from both you and valentino97!
Interesting piece - where is the pin used to attach the brooch to clothing?
um...good point....I didn't even notice. I actually just came across a set of earrings that reminded me of this brooch...I'll have to pull them together later to see if they match.
