After Mom passed in March of this year, I inherited all of hers and her Mother's jewelry. There is a bit of fine jewelry, albeit, inexpensive fine jewelry but more fascinating is the large amount of costume jewelry. 90% of the costume jewelry belonged to my Grandma.

She was born in early 1900's, so most jewelry would have been accumulated to my way of thinking from the 30's to 70's (late). She died in early 80's. She seemed to LOVE brooches, Canadian Maple leaves, etc.

This Rhinestone Jewelry set - Necklace, Earrings and Bracelet was with an Albert Weiss box. Unsure which decade this Albert Weiss costume jewelry belongs to though

Have you examined the pieces for maker's marks?

      Efesgirl,

No, I have not. I didn't even think about it to be honest. I will look here in a bit.

If this set is all Weiss, then you've really got a prize on your hands! It appears that the bracelet may have been the only piece in this box which brings up the value of that alone...but to have the set!!! Very nice and also highly sought after. Check all your pieces for names and seriously, research them all if you can. There are many pieces of costume jewelry that are very valuable. Especially sets! I think you are going to be very surprised!!!

      shareurpassion,

You are right about the bracelet being the only piece that belongs in the box. Ironically I just noticed that today when I noticed the 'clasp' indentations and thought, this would have definitely been in the box ALONE. I may have another AW box, I'm still digging through a Lady Buxton jewelry box and other old boxes.

I have such poor vision and my cell phone camera alone is often not enough to look for tiny marks. I'm going to be getting some type of magnifier/ loupe(sp?)

nutsaboutas6 - I've read only a TINY bit about Weiss, some say if it was him, there would be a signature and some say there may not? I think I read as his business grew, there was more 'mass production' so I'm unsure if those would have been marked at all. I think if it does NOT have a signature, which so far with my limitations I have not seen, then the value goes down immensely. I have no idea if having a 'set' then helps at all. I actually enjoy having at least the original box the bracelet came in.

Thank you both for your willingness to share your knowledge!!
