daversdoll
(1 item)
I have a doll that I cannot find any marks to help me identify. As shown in picture, its a large doll approx 25" . It has curly dirty blonde/reddish hair, brown eyes that open and shut, she 2 has teeth, rosy cheeks
Head, arms and legs are some type of porcelain or china, but body is soft and cloth material, most likely a white cotton? She was well loved and obviously played with. Cracks on her face.
Im guessing the picture was taken in the late 1930's.
Thank you for any help to identify this doll!!
Always best to show whole doll and body but I can tell she is made of Composition head, arms, lower legs and a Cloth body with a box inside her stomach that would be called a crier which when squeezed it sounded a bit like it says "Mama"
Composition does not hold up well in dampness or poor storage . Your doll seems to have been well taken care since her crazing (Lines ) are few and her paint is good not flaking off . These types of dolls were made by many companies and unfortunately all are not marked since they were meant as toys and no one thought we might want to know who made it years later :-) She appears USA made and dates 1920's-40's . I would say by photo she is late 20's . Is she doll in photo ? I am sorry we can not give a maker to her or a name since she has no real distinct feature that would help ID her . She has a typical Dolly Face . Very Nice doll and glad she has survived so well . Did you look on back of her neck for a mark ? Welcome to CW
Here is a example of her type
