      Hi!
I saw your chair photo and felt the need to reach out-as I have NEVER seen a chair so close to my own rocking chair mystery.
I have a chair that is quite similar to yours. Family legend says it is my great, if not great-great grandmother's chair. (I was born in 1976) My family is from Chicago-and prior to that, Sweden. (It could be from either place. ) Like your chair, it has carvings along the top; though mine are lions. They too, are very similiar. It has the same arms and base. It also has the same leather surround on the seat with rivets. My grandma covered the seat with a hand-made cross stitch. The seat reads, "Busse patent seat size 16 shape: cobbler". The original black leather remains. I would be happy to send you a photo to compare, if you are interested. I would love to know if you found out anything of YOUR chair-as it may unlock my mystery too. Good luck. You found a beauty!

Hello, thanks for your information and your interest, yes i would love to see a picture of your chair, I have not found out much at all about my chair, i have looked at several web sites but i have found nothing even close in comparison to shape, style or period

I posted my chair on the site, as I couldn't figure out how to send it directly to you! I hope we can solve our mysteries! When Papa passed away, he left this chair to me because even as a little girl I loved the chair and rocked in it every time I visited. My dad has told me his grandmother used to rock in it when she sewed when HE was a child....

I just acquired the same chair at a flea market this weekend. We have to fix the arm and clean it up. Guy I got it from said it was in a basement of a house a realtor had him clean out. Very unique design.
