This Victorian glass salt is made from clear glass with pink & white stripes - known as the Cleveland stripe. It also has an applied rigaree in clear glass, & a clear raspberry prunt on the base. The salt measures 6 cm tall, & 7 cm wide across the crimped top rim, & it sits in a silverplate holder. English origin.

So pretty, and one that looks better out of it's mount I think. Do you know the reason it's called Cleveland stripe?

Hi IronLace, it's a pink version of mine! They look identical. It's lovely. Now I know what kind of frame to look out for :)

Sadly, I don't know the origin of the term - I have seen it used to describe the same type of pattern on fairy lamps - from an old catalogue image.
