Most know I'm still going through jewelry and other assorted items left to me from my Mom and Grandmother.

When Mom passed, my eldest daughter selected some jewelry she wanted in memory of my Mom. She chose one of my fave item(s) (which is fine as she will actually wear it)...I miss 'seeing' it but it;s so much better that it will be worn and the memory of my Mom it will bring her and maybe others.

She's visiting now so I had her bring the necklace and earring set. We did find a mark on the earrings. We found an 'L G' which looking up appears to be: Lind-Gal, Inc., NYC Mark: Letters "LG" with no other design - first use 1952. We were puzzled that only the earrings were marked but I saw another set, perfectly matched earrings and necklace and only the earrings for that set were marked as well.

I know my Mom said Dad had given it to her after/around their 1st years (early in their marriage) of marriage and it was his 1st purchase of jewelry as a gift (outside of wedding ring) They married in 1950 during and she wondered if they would ever go somewhere "fancy" enough to wear it (they did :) ).

It says the LG/Ling-Gal, Inc mark was first used in 1952 so the timing is right as well. Since she is going to wear it, she will have some of the missing rhinestones replaced. Wish we had it in the 'best condition' but we just plan to enjoy it.

I gather there are no marks on the jewelry?

She's saying there are no marks. She is coming down for a visit in the next few weeks, I think. If she can fit it in her luggage I'm going to ask her to bring it. If she can't then I'll try to do a Skype session with her and show her where I've found markings on other places of items.

1950's is what I would think, they used the baguette stones in the early years of costume jewellery mainly !

PhilDMorris - I have just started to notice that now that you and one other person mentioned that. Thank you for commenting!

Thank you, lentilka11. I'm so glad one of my daughters wanted to keep this set so their history within our family can continue!
