I rescued a rocker from a pile on the side of the road. It is in wonderful condition. Except, the back ends of both rockers appear to have been cut off. As I look closer both sides seem identically cut and make me wonder if there was once a piece that crossed between both. Such a cross piece would be unusual? I would appreciate any thoughts from others who have more rocking chair knowledge than me. Are the ends cut off? Was there a cross piece? What did the original ends look like? Any information about this chair is truly appreciated!

No, there would not have been a cross piece at the back.
