Here are two ginger jars (no lids). I've searched about a dozen others online ... all pretty similar ... but the dates attributed to them vary widely! So I'm left wondering how old these are? Can you help ... definitively? In other words, you know your stuff. Other non-expert comments are also very welcome; love feedback so thanks to all.
it's so hard to tell w/ these utilitarian pieces - sometimes they're still made exactly like they were made centuries ago. i have a lot of the green ginger jars of all ages, but none quite like these.
Thanks - I didn't know that. It's hard going just by photos too, I realize. These do have a lot of crazing visible in HD closeup pics. If I had to venture a guess I'd say late 1700's to 1850 but that is just a GUESS! I don't "know" Asian art & wares. Thanks again.
I like this type of jar, I have 4-5 of them, and the time frame of manufacture is very wide, 1850--1930, maybe more.. I have seen these with paper labels that actually had ginger as the contents. The lids always get lost.

Crazing is not indicative of age (if you're thinking it must have taken time for it to develop). Such cracks in the glaze could be there out of the kiln.
