When I know is that is the single handled hacksaw, the wood handle seems to be cherry wood, the frame is cast-iron including the blade holders. I would like to know a time frame for this type of saw? It seems to have the original blade, 12 teeth per inch. I would also like to know if the confined saw blades that size approximately 9 1/2 inches? The hole at the bottom of the handle is not original look like they would hang the hacksaw up.
Mystery solved, this is a specialized saw. I found it in a catalog and the company that offered the catalog was in business from 1829 to 1936. It could've been used at any time in that period. It is for dehorning of goats and calves. So someone in the dairy industry would have a use for it and anyone raising goats. Not going into details but when it comes to dehorning goats it is a controversial practice when this type saw was used. What's interesting is that this practice continues today but this type saw is no longer used. Tools used today are all electrical.
The saw has a Japanned surface, (use of asphalt coating on the metal to prevent it from rusting). The wooden handle is Beech wood.
