Found this at an estate sale in West Michigan last year sitting in the brush, really rusted up, but there was still some black paint on the shaft and red paint on the wooden handle and metal blade.
It measures 45" in height ,the shovel blade is bowl shape /curved and is 4 1/2 inches in width.
What is it's intended usage? I assume planting of some sort? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

(I did paint it because I often re-purpose things and this going in my perennial garden to be used as a stake for one of my rose bushes.)

    Thanks very much.

Thanks, bobby725. I never would have guessed .

Tru Temper made these and advertised them as an ice auger and a bulb planter. They didn't work well for either. This one has a spoon bit so was used to enlarge a hole made by a cork screw type auger bit. You will find them on eBay and other sites with a hefty asking price.

Thanks fhrjr2.... I agree that it doesn't seem very effective for either bulb planting or cutting through the ice. It should be nice yard art, supporting my rose bush.
