HAD POSTED THIS BEFORE BUT AM POSTING AGAIN WITH BETTER PICS AS I AM TRYING TO WORK OUT IT'S ORIGINS
IT IS OLDER THAN DIRT & HAS SEEN BETTER DAYS
I AM TOLD IT WAS BROUGHT OVER HERE FROM CAMBODIA BUT IT IS UNCERTAIN WHERE IT ACTUALLY ORIGINATED.
THE SHAPE OF THE HEADGEAR WOULD INDICATE AN INDIA ORIGIN TO ME
MEASURES ABOUT 32 INCHES LONG AND 28 INCHES HIGH
THERE ARE QUITE DETAILED PAINTED PATTERNS
THE MOUNTED KING OR RAJA OR SOME SUCH FIGURE HELD SOMETHING IN RIGHT HAND AT SOME POINT, A SCEPTER, SPEAR, LANCE, STANDARD OR CEREMONIAL MACE OF SOME SORT WHICH UNFORTUNATELY HAS GONE MISSING
THE CHRACTER'S FACE HAS A MOUSTACHE WHICH CONTINUES INTO THE SIDEBURNS - CHIN IS CLEAN-SHAVEN
He is wonderful !!
Nice and definitely Indian.
Beautiful piece. looks Indian continent to me too
THANKS FOR THE INPUT - I'M THINKING IT IS REPRESENTATIVE OF A PARTICULAR HISTORICAL FIGURE FROM INDIA AND WOULD LIKE TO WORK OUT WHO, WHAT, WHERE & WHEN. I KNOW IT IS VERY OLD, MAYBE 100'S OF YEARS BUT I CAN ONLY POST 4 PICS.
