I had doubts about this nodding-head Mickey alarm clock mainly because of the mispelled manufacturer's name on its face. It is missing the final "d" of the Bayard French brand.
The seller was offering it as a "1940s French Disney alarm clock" and despite the case repainted in blue, it has all the characteristics of the period for this particular model (winding keys and openings on the case back, the wider stepped base, Mickey's low head position). The price was also too low to miss.
Today I decided to open it carefully, undoing the winding keys by turning them clockwise, with the four small nuts on the back to check if I could find a date stamped on the movement. And there it was: 1951 and "Made in France". So it isn't a 1940s or earlier but it is a Bayard after all. This means that the face was misprinted by the maker, making it rare on its own way! :)
Added the movement's date stamp pic and a vintage ad found on the internet blog Filmic Light (http://filmic-light.blogspot.com.br/2015/03/bayard-snow-white-alarm-clock-from.html).
Thank you mickeyismagic for your help and also kerry10456 for the information found in his CW's posts.
About the french clock maker Bayard: Founded in 1928 in Normandy, made many Disney-themed alarm clocks, starting with Mickey around 1930. Went bankrupt in 1984. The brand Bayard is now owned by Spiero Horlogerie as "Bayard Paris" (www.spiero.com).
Thanks freon!
Thank you mickeyismagic and fortapache. I could see by mickeyismagic Bayard Mickey alarm clock that mine was definitely repainted. The markings on the back of mine are really faint as they got covered by the new paint job. But the "BAYAR" mistery is still on.
Hey mcheconi I do not know as much as Kerry (have not heard from him in 3 months. I have 10 of these clock 7 different ones 4 nos in boxes. They all have the same cases except 1 a Donald witch has a case like yours. I do believe that your is a repaint as the finish is to rough. the difference it he the cases is that the fast\slow lever is at 12:00 to 3:00 of the little bump and the others it's at 4:00 t0 9:00 and the pattern of holes has 1 large hole in the center and the others do not have the large hole. I think that the one you have and my Donald like your Mickey are the first bayards as all of the others I have the bases are smaller. The base on mine is 4.75'' and the others are 3.5'' and the longer base has 2 steps and the others have only 1 step. As far as the missing "d" I am not sure on that as all of mine have the "d". Maybe Kerry will answer , he hasn't called me for 3 months now. Hope this helps still a great find for the price
Just saw you were on if you look at my Donald that one is the one I think is a newer one and you will see the difference in the base and the back. Also my other Donald the case is pink
Thanks again mickeyismagic. I checked out your awesome collection and it gave me a point to start. Yes, I agree that the base of mine is related to the early ones and it is a pity that someone decided to paint it. The missing "d" is what puzzles me. I don't think someone would try to make fake cheap clocks at that time and still today it would not make sense to copy the cheaper 1930s/1940s Bayards. The price was the key here as I could notice that the seller wasn't aware about the interest for Mickey clocks (he advertised it as a 1940's "Disney" french alarm clock). Anyway, as it was repainted I guess it lost some value. Let's hope Kerry can help.
Thanks Caperkid!
Thank you Rick55!

Thank you vetraio and SEAN!
UPDATED this post with new findings. Thanks again mickeyismagic!
Thanks Valentino!
Something I wish I had as a kid, I remember using some loud ticking alarm clock when I was young, but would have loved this instead. The repainting job looks well done, and I think you scored again with this piece :~))
Phil, clock sounds were everywhere when I was a kid too. I remember many relatives' houses having a clock in the living room with really loud ticking sounds and carillons marking the hours and other time periods between them. This cheap alarm clock functions very well for its age (actually better than modern cheap clocks). The paint is well done but the color is wrong, as well as the textured look. It is grey inside and I will probably repaint it acqua/seafoam green like the one mickeyismagic owns.
I like your attention to detail. We had a cukoo clock in our living room when I was young along with a 60's horse and racer electric clock. I see kerry had a red one also. I love that yours has a date on it, love that pic.
I talked to Kerry a couple of days ago and he thought that it might be a restoration of the dial and they forget the D. I don't think that we will be hearing from Kerry much anymore because he has been personally accused on his personal emails on his knowledge of the time pieces he gives info on by some of the people on CW. He will be missed!
Thanks mickeyismagic and yes, this could be the case. Sorry to know that this type of bullying is still happening in CW. I know about another case like this. Shame.
Thanks EJW!
Oh I love this little clock and am very envious. Have been away for a month and am very disappointed about what has happened to Kerry.
Wandlessfairy, yup...apparently the CW bullies made another victim.
