This Victorian vase is made from three layers of cased glass - clear over shaded pale blue with a herringbone air trap pattern, & a white interior. The vase measures 13.5 cm tall, 3.7 cm across the cut top rim, & 4.5 cm across the base, which does not have a pontil mark. It has a smooth satin finish. Possibly English.

      Many thanks, sklo42!
Thanks also, racer4four - the herringbone pattern is a little rarer than the more familiar diamond pattern, & I think it sits particularly well on this melon ribbed shape vase.

Wonderful piece IronLace, lovely colour, I don't think I've seen a blue example before.

Thanks so much, Vintagefran! I've just posted another vase in a lighter blue...it is one of the less seen colours in this type of glass. I have often wondered if green was ever used, as I've never seen a piece. Most of this air trap satin glass is found in pinks, yellows, & peachy tones. The rainbow examples are the hardest to find, & the most sought after.
