I was given this today by a lil shop owner since i bought some other stuff. I thought it was cute. Not sure what it is tho? A serving dish? Or possibly fondue? Its a Rockford silver plate company 1633 stamped. Kinda neat it has a handle as well a spot to hold the lid. Has very nice details all over it. Possibly had a dish that went inside that's gone now. Thanks for looking!

A butter server, missing the knife and I believe it should have an insert dish, so that some iced water could be put in the base to keep the butter cold.

Agree with ta-- it is a butter dish. Should have both an insert metal piece and glass on top of the metal. Most that I see are missing the glass piece.
