Another piece from Kitaichi, this a beautifully made work of unusual shape and design (but somehow still very Japanese).

A very pale ground has been striped with blue, burgundy, teal green, and gold, with intense gold striping in the top section. The shape is sensuous, with a voluptuous squeeze through the body at the 3/4 point.

I have yet to identify the artists working at Kitaichi and did not receive any information with this beautiful piece. I would not have thought it Kitaichi without the label, although they do make beautiful glass and I am not up to speed with all of their output. I'm happy to know the Glass House at least.

I have dulled the first photo down a bit so the shape can be clearly seen.

This is so beautifully designed Karen! The shape is simple best dressed up so nicely with those vertical stripes and the cut below the rim. He also made great use of the gold foil - managing to keep it only in the upper section.

Thanks so much Rick! I think it's a lovely balance of shape and decor. I agree keeping the foil localised has worked well!

It's funny when I've missed your posts, I go to your page then I can't decide which item to pick first! I do love this vase. That bird caught my eye to...I'll have to go back to it. I've got something I want to post that I think you'll love too. I'll do that now.
