Early STOP sign in the shield shape that was common in the 1920s. The small size also hints as to an early time before speeds increased sufficiently to necessitate larger signs that could be seen from farther away.
Interesting thing about this particular sign is the detail captured in the casting of the board they used to make the pattern for the mold.
Overall, very sharp details and little wear aside from the paint. I'm guessing it was only in service for a short while.
