This is a puzzle yet, unusual piece along the lines of Juliana. I seem to think I have run across either this piece recently purchased before or seen one like it. This trefoil shape brooch, has what I will call wings, that curl upwards on their tips and the center of the brooch raises up to a point in the center.. very dimensional and not flat.

Any hints on this one... or leads? Thanks!

Its kind of like the ones that are used for collars, such as a collar pin. They usually take the shape of 3 sides.

Looking at the back and it being enclosed not open indicates quality. I'm sure you have looked for a mark and I have found in the past that they can appear just about anywhere on the item. I would use the strongest magnification I could find. And what might look like a scratch may actually be a mark. It is beautiful.

I forgot to add I would have the metal on the back enclosures tested. As we all know costume jewelry is collectible.

I like open back pieces but it is a moot point when they use foiled back stones with open back mountings. :-)

I find the unusual aspect is that the stone mountings in the center are tilted up to a point in the middle where they all meet, and the petals are also curl upward a bit on the outer ends so the piece is not flat. The photo of it in hand gives a bit of an aspect view if you study it.

You really have to know your costume jewelry when calling a piece "Juliana". The article may help.

Gillian... I did not call it Julian but Juliana-style which a lot of people name fancy design high end rhinestone jewelry. :-) But thanks for the link.

I can't afford a nice real piece of Juliana but, if someone would like to donate a piece to me for my personal collection, please PM me for my address :-) i will be glad to accept it.
