Have I mentioned Cameos are my favorite things in life they are the one thing I hunt for EVERYWHERE I go! This masterpiece got me so much detail with the added bonus of more then just the regular bust! Only thing I'm not sure on is the material used it's not quite like the rest of the cameos I've come across so far it's more grainy if that even makes sense... hard to describe in writing. Maybe some can see by the pictures!
Impressive!
It seems to have a mark on the right side of the torso, pic 2 and 3...
Material seems to be a kind of resin, made to look as marble, not sardonyx nor shell.
She is gorgeous!
I've been trying to figure out what that is I've tired cleaning it but it won't come off! the feel is almost like a matte finish or maybe like chalk paint before the wax treatment... she is very heavy to! I almost thought about putting a glaze over her as the background pops out so much more when it's wet but I know that would be wrong of me.
Thank you for taking in the glory of her with me!
Beautiful !
I sometimes just pick her up to look at all the detail also why I love cameos so much! The artwork, so much detail in such little amount of space just amazes me!
BB2 was here & noticed that she appears to have had a boob-job. LOL !
Hello Erika - Welcome to the Cameo Club. I have seen her before, also as a buckle, some years ago now. Think that one was rectangular with more of a brown background. My best guess is that the material is similar to Incolay, except either with some sort of grit added to the mix, or subjected to something like sandblasting to rough up the surface. I have a piece that resembles this in some ways, also a buckle. The back surface is not hidden by metal, so one can see that on that side it is smooth & shiny, like polished stone. I'm inclined to think the front surface has been made matte & grainy to the touch through a process applied after the molded material has hardened. When lighting better for photos, will put it up for comparison. :)
Hi Erika - Have put up the other buckle. You can see there are similarities, but also clear differences. :)
Hey there cameosleuth! I unplugged for a moment thanks for all your info. This one really caught my eye and have to have it not like any of my other cameos all but one other you can see through and are not this same finish which is why I picked this one up! Thanks for your insight on my way to check your out right now!
