My best friend of 20 yrs who passed away at the much too young age of 56, had given this to my eldest daughter for her 14th bday. As eldest is not a fan of gold/gold tones, this was left in her old bedroom here and I found it when cleaning under a dresser. I'm puzzled as to a few things - 1) My BFF was a fan of REAL jewelry, not costume....her husband was an airline captain and she had what I call "WOW...OMG, I'd panic if I lost that" type jewelry. She also was one of the most generous people I ever had the pleasure to know, offering to loan you her 2 carat (ea) diamond earrings at the drop ofa hat and then wondering why I turned paler than I am (trust me, I woul d have lost one! With no mark indicating this is actually gold then I have to presume that the entire ring is indeed costume jewelry. I still will treasure it as it was a gift from my BF and for those who think she would be unlikely to give a real diamond ring to a 14 yr old, she did do this (had 2 the almost same age, one of which was my daughter's best friend for a # of years). Anyways, it's a puzzle
