My wife LOVES carnival type collectibles and I must admit I am an enabler! I think these items are pretty cool also. Not a huge fan of the canes, but this is a very cool and unique piece. I am not telling what this was used for as I would like to see who can be the first to identify. I think one would have to be at LEAST 50 yrs. old to identify! If you are younger than that and know what this is you get XTRA credit. LOL!
I don't know you at all, but I already dislike you ;>]
Gillian, I don't think you got the extra points . LOL !! Nicks a great guy, - - after a few beers.
I'm sure Nick is a great guy - and I do apologise if I've caused offence. If you knew how many vintage, antique and old carnival games I looked through; I even tried to make up names for the game. So....I don't mind not getting the extra points at all.
I hear that! This is a real diversified crowd ! Laterally & horizontally !
I wasn't sure last night how to take that Gillian! Now I see that comment was rooted in frustration! Hard to "feel" the sentiment with just the printed word many times. Fun tho, wasn't it? Here's a hint... the game would sit horizontally and made so as to rotate on a pedestal.
THX for all the love!!
BB2--In all your world travels you haven't come across one of these?! Last time I saw one in action was about 25 yrs. ago at the Ripley, OH tobacco festival. Most entertaining!
I don't ever remember seeing a carnival or circus in the islands other than our yearly carnivals, which are not what we are referring to here. The islands are a constant carnival & don't need outside competition.
Another hint... RODENT
We have a winner! valentino97! The carny would place a mouse in the center and cover with a bowl or something like that, spin the table while patrons would bet like roulette on number and/or color. After the bets are in carny would stop the board and release the dizzy mouse to run into one of the holes. Sure was fun to watch back in the day!
The carnival canes to the sides of the board were given out as prizes from other games. Most of those are all wood but some have figural
porcelain handles. We even have one with a cast iron bottom which would pop caps like an old cap gun. They are pretty scarce and usually pricey when you find them. That's why we only have one!
The brightly colored things you see above and below my sign kit boxes are also from carnival games.
THX for the love!!
Akrodog, great fun mystery you gave here :-)
Valentino! How did you guess that?
Very interesting (and incredible!) game concept ;-)
Gillian, lol!
Yep Valentino, poor mouse....
Gee I feel younger already after trying to figure it out and still have no knowledge of ever seeing this game at a carnival . If if there was a mouse involved I would have been pretty far away :-) Never heard of it so I am thinking I have regained some years and feel like 20 again !
