I feel like I've seen somewhere something similar to this. Of course, I cannot recall what or where, or even when.
But can anyone ID an age and pattern on this antique bowl? Also, why is the glaze falling off?
Here's a funny error: I have several replies in my inbox for the email CW sent me on this post, but when I come to my post I can't see a single comment????? It looks like it did when I went to bed last night.
I've refreshed several times, but I cannot see any of your replies??????????
Yeah there were comments last night how odd
I'll gladly tell you again - this is called "Drip Ware". It comes from the State of Oaxaca in Mexico and dates from sometime between the 1940s and the late-1960s. As you've noticed, the glaze on these pieces is notoriously unstable and tends to come off in flakes.
Thank you all for recommenting. I was just scrolling through CW when I saw artfoot had kindly commented again-- but CW never sent me an update that people were commenting again! LOL.
yes, Mexican from Oaxaca. i don't call this one dripware, but it was made in the same part of Oaxaca as dripware. these are brushed on large flowers - abstracted.
