This vase is something of a mystery. It is made from Burmese glass, & has a very intense iridescent finish. I think it is American, but not by Fenton. I have a book on Fenton Burmese glass, & nothing like this is illustrated. I have heard of small manufacturers in the USA buying cullet from Fenton, & making Burmese items - I don't know if this is true. I am pretty sure it was made in the late 20th century, but as it fits in well with my Victorian glass, I don't mind the age difference.
It measures 16 cm tall, 12 cm across the top rim, & 7 cm across the base. It is quite squat & thick, & the opening of the vase is so shallow that one couldn't actually use it for flowers (as if you would - it is fancy enough without adding flowers!). There is a spiral trail wrapped around the stem, & it glows very brightly under UV light. The iridescence is very glossy, with an almost mirror - like effect.
I have recently established that this was made by Gibson Glass.

Hi IronLace, Oh wow, isn't this wonderful! To find glossy Burmese is rare enough but with such iridescence and that fantastic shape, what a shape, it must be a rarity indeed!

Many thanks, Vintagefran - yes, it is certainly something different. I purchased it within Australia, from an antiques fair, probably around 12 years ago. The seller mostly had carnival glass for sale.
