I found this vase today and was not familiar with the mark on the bottom. I looked up RW vase on eBay and it pulled up vases by RW Rudolstadt. Not sure if this is one of them or not. It looks like someone may have highlighted the RW on this vase. Any ideas?

Hello Mrstyndall. Good luck with finding RW, I know what a minefield it can be with just some initials or a mark to go on. I'll be watching with interest to see if they're found. The vase is Very nice, I love its colours and rough finish, I particularly like the relief . Beautiful and elegant.

Scroll down to see pictures of the vase being discussed here... http://www.justanswer.com/antiques/5agt8-vase-pottery-mark-rw-inside-diamond-shaped.html

It's very similar to yours, but the handles are different on this model. The owner says the mark on her vase is RW inside a diamond with a crown, and the expert identifies the mark based on that description.

Well done noob! I feel as happy for you Mrstyndall as if it were my own vase. Another ceramic maker to put in the book:) It's looks from the photos that yours is the only one with applied, 3D effect, decoration. I find that most unusual.

Noob, awesome job on solving:) I did not realize it was that old-it is a unique piece-different from anything else that I have. Thanks so much for your help.

So beautiful, I never had taste for pottery or ceramics before, but I have seen so many lovely pieces that I am getting hooked. I have to stay out of the stores. I will just live through everyone elses beauty....ha....never happen. Just thinking out loud.
