I've had this doll since 1972. I got this doll from a Christmas bazaar at the local community center. I remember there being at least a dozen or so similar dolls each in a different costume. My two sisters and I were each allowed to each pick one out. My sisters chose the Godey doll and the June bride. I have never been able to identify this one.

She is composition, 21 inches tall with auburn/red hair and hazel green eyes. I lost the wrist tag over the years but I remember it to be a green clover. She had pearl earrings. I think she may be "Mary Louise?" I have never seen a picture of that doll.

Any help identifying would be appreciated!

Hi She does not look like Madame Alexanders work . Are you sure she is composition ? If so it is in remarkable condition as are her clothes . Was she new when you bought her or used ? She has a very European look to her facial painting . Please let me know about age of her ok . Very beautiful and can't say I ever saw her before but because she is dressed in historic clothes rather than the clothes of the age of her I am wondering if she was dressed for a special display .

Yes, she is definitely composition. These are the original clothes she had when I bought her in 1972. She also came with the blue/pink Madame Alexander box. I'm convinced she is a Madame Alexander because the two other dolls purchased at the same time are identical to her except for their costumes. They have been identified as the 21" portrait dolls "Godey" and "June Bride."

Ok and Yes she is a Portrait doll by Madame Alexander I am sorry I was not thinking of her portrait dolls . She is obviously a HTF version not many were made , Let me look in my books ok and get back to you . In mean time look at inside clothes for a tag . Madame alex always put a tag in clothes and usually it named the character . Look by all the seams ok

Your doll is indeed Rare and these portrait dolls almost never show up . She has same Face as Melanie but not her dress so I will be curious if you find a label saying who she is dressed as . And yes the green clover would have said Madame Alexander . When you said you bought her in 72 I was not thinking she was older :-)
Here is one with the tag on wrist

Thank you for the information. I think she may be listed in the 1938 or 1946 catalog. I haven't been able to find one of those resources. I will look again for a tag. What does HTF stand for? Thank you again for the information!

HTF ( Hard to find ) She is very desirable doll and not many of these types were produced . Has a very good value and her condition makes her more fantastic !!
